An eerie skull shaped asteroid has sped past the Earth on Halloween. The large scary object was only spotted by astronomers five days prior to its arrival.
The asteriod was estimated to be about 1,300 feet wide and travelling at 22 miles per second! It shot passed at around 300,000 miles away, which is really close in astronomical terms.
About 65 million years ago, an asteroid or comet roughly 6 miles in diameter crashed into the Earth and triggered the demise of the dinosaurs and the majority of life that existed at that time. Could the mysterious appearance of the Halloween asteroid be a timely reminder from Mother Nature that she is all powerful and we mess with her at our peril?
