Thousands of starfish have washed up on Ramsgate beach after the ‘Beast from the East’ struck. The trail of the dead sea creatures stretches to other beaches in the area as witnesses describe being shocked by the numbers. The macabre scene was said some to be like Armageddon with starfish stretching as far as the eye could see.
The Marine Conservation Society said on its website: “The cause appears to be a combination of the extreme cold (where shallow water has frozen, or come close to freezing) and the depth at which storm waves have penetrated.
